Whether you’re working remotely, collaborating with a team, or just trying to share vacation photos with friends, Dropbox makes uploading and sharing files easy and secure. In this step-by-step guide, I’ll walk you through how to upload files or folders and share them directly from Dropbox’s web interface.

🔹 Step 1: Log Into Dropbox

Start by visiting dropbox.com and logging into your account. Once you’re in, you’ll land on the All Files page — this is your Dropbox dashboard where all your uploads and folders live.

🔹 Step 2: Upload Files or Folders

You’ve got a couple of ways to upload:

Option A: Use the Upload Button

  1. Click the “Upload” button at the top.

  2. Choose either “File” or “Folder”.

  3. Select the items you want to upload from your computer.

  4. Click Open, and your files will begin uploading.

Option B: Drag & Drop

You can also click and drag multiple files directly into the Dropbox window. Use Command (Mac) or Control (Windows) to select multiple files before dragging.

You can even import files directly from Google Drive using the Dropbox web interface.

🔹 Step 3: View Uploaded Files

Once uploaded, your files will appear in the file list, with their names and formats intact. You can click on a file to preview it on the right-hand side panel.

🔹 Step 4: Share Files or Folders

To share a file:

  1. Click on the file, then select the “Share” button in the top-right corner.

  2. Choose “Share with Dropbox”.

3. You’ll now have two main sharing options:

    • Add People: Enter an email address and grant access.

    • Copy Link: Generate a link to paste into a text, email, or anywhere else.

🔹 Step 5: Customize Sharing Settings (Optional)

Click the Settings option inside the sharing popup to control who can view the file and how:

  • Set expiration date for the shared link.

  • Require a password for access.

  • Disable downloads and make the file view-only.

  • Restrict access to only invited users or anyone with the link.

Once your preferences are set, hit Save and copy the link to share.
