How to Ping an IP

On Windows Vista or Windows 7, click on the Start Button

Then type CMD (short for Command) and click on the program to start it

Command dos starts

To ping an IP, the command works as follow: PING <IP> or PING <DOMAIN>

For example PING thinktutorial.com and then press ENTER

Result

Interpretation of the Results: The Ping Results out of 4 packets sent is averaging 159ms where the maximum was 316ms and the minimum 85ms. The lower the number is and the fastest the response from the IP and/or domain.
