Want to make your Canva designs more interactive or informative? Embedding YouTube videos is a simple and powerful way to bring your content to life—whether you’re creating a presentation, a website, or a digital flyer.

In this step-by-step guide, I’ll walk you through two different ways you can easily embed YouTube videos into your Canva projects.

📌 Method 1: Quick Paste Using the Video URL

This is the fastest way to drop a YouTube video into any Canva design:

  1. Copy the YouTube Video URL

Head over to YouTube and copy the full URL of the video you want to embed.

(Tip: Use Command + C on Mac or Ctrl + C on Windows.)

  2. Open Your Canva Project

Open an existing design or start a new one—this works in presentations, social graphics, websites, and more.

  3. Paste the Link Directly Into Canva

Right-click anywhere on your design canvas and select Paste. Canva will automatically embed the YouTube video as a playable element.

  4. Resize and Position the Video

Just like any other Canva element, you can drag the video around, resize it, and center it as needed.

  5. Double Click to Play

Double-clicking the video will bring it up in full-screen mode for playback.

  6. Play In Present Mode (For Presentations)

If you’re using Canva Presentations, just switch to Present Mode, hit play, and the embedded video will play directly in your slideshow.

🎯 Method 2: Use the Built-In YouTube App in Canva

If pasting the link doesn’t work—or if you want to search for videos directly within Canva—use this method:

  1. Go to the “Apps” Tab

From the left-hand menu in Canva, scroll down and click on “Apps.”

  2. Search for YouTube

Type “YouTube” into the app search bar and select the YouTube app when it appears.

  3. Open the YouTube App

Click Open, and you’ll be presented with a search bar that lets you browse and embed YouTube videos directly inside Canva.

  4. Search or Paste Video ID

    You can either:

    • Search for a video by title

    • Or paste the Video ID (the unique string of letters and numbers from the YouTube URL) to find a specific video

  5. Click to Embed

When the video shows up in the results, click it and it will drop straight into your Canva design.

💡 Bonus Tips

  • You can embed multiple videos in the same Canva design.

  • Embedded videos remain clickable and playable inside shared Canva presentations and websites.

  • Want better control? Consider resizing your video with Canva’s positioning tools and layering options.
