Want to let your friends know what you’re playing on Discord? Whether you’re grinding in Fortnite, building in Minecraft, or just watching YouTube while “video editing,” Discord makes it easy to share your current activity.
In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through how to set up and customize your Discord status so it shows the game (or app) you’re currently using.
🎮 Why Show Your Game on Discord?
When you enable this feature, your friends can see what game or app you’re using directly in your profile and status. It’s a fun way to share what you’re doing and makes it easier for others to jump in and join you.
🛠️ Step-by-Step: How To Display Your Game Activity on Discord
1.
Open User Settings
Launch Discord and click the gear icon next to your username in the bottom-left corner to access User Settings.
2.
Navigate to Activity Settings
In the left-hand sidebar, scroll down to Activity Settings and click on Activity Privacy.
3.
Enable Activity Status
Turn on the option labeled:
“Share your detected activities with others.”
This tells Discord to detect and display the game you’re currently playing.
✅ You should see a blue checkmark once it’s enabled.
🕹️ How To Add a Game Manually
Sometimes Discord won’t automatically detect a game or application. No worries—you can add it manually:
-
Under Registered Games, click “Add it!”
-
Search for the game or app (even something like Google Chrome)
-
Click Add Game
-
Optionally, rename the activity by clicking on the title and entering something custom—like “Video Editing” or “Being Awesome.”
Your custom name will then appear in your profile status.
👀 How It Looks On Your Profile
Once set, your profile will display something like:
“Playing: Video Editing” (or whatever app or game you selected).
You’ll also see it in the bottom-left corner of Discord next to your profile.
🧼 Want To Hide a Specific Game?
You can selectively disable the display for any app or game by toggling its visibility:
-
Go to Registered Games
-
Click the Detection toggle next to the app/game
-
That app will no longer show up in your status when running
Perfect for when you’re playing something… let’s just say “niche.”
🧨 How To Disable the Feature Entirely
To stop showing all games entirely:
-
Return to User Settings
-
Go to Activity Privacy
-
Turn OFF “Share your detected activities with others.”
🗨️ Final Thoughts
This is a quick and easy way to personalize your Discord presence. Whether you’re showing off your latest grind or adding some humor to your status, this feature is a great tool.
